New Meghalaya Guv to be sworn in tomorrow

SHILLONG, Jan 4 � West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi would be sworn in as Meghalaya Governor at the Raj Bhavan here on January 6.

Tripathi would be the 19th Governor of the State and Meghalaya High Court Chief Justice (acting) Uma Nath Singh will administer the oath of office to Tripathi.

The West Bengal Governor would be replacing Krishan Kant Paul, who has been transferred to Uttarakhand as the Governor of that State.

Tripathi, who had also been the Speaker of Uttar Pradesh Assembly, would continue to hold the office of Governor of West Bengal until further orders. � Correspondent

Arunachal students meet Maharashtra Guv

Mumbai, Jan 4 � A group of 35 students from various districts of Arunachal Pradesh met Governor of Maharashtra Ch Vidyasagar Rao at the Raj Bhavan here on Friday.

The Governor asked the students to acquire knowledge and contribute to the process of socio-economic and political development of the country.

The visit of the students to Mumbai was organised by the Arunachal Vikas Parishad as part of its efforts to motivate youth and promote patriotic feelings among them, a release said.

The students visited Kanyakumari, Bangalore and Mysore before arriving in Mumbai. They will proceed to Kolkata and Guwahati, before reaching Itanagar. � PTI
