New golf course to be inaugurated

GUWAHATI, Oct 26 � Leeway Leisure Club has set up a nine hole extreme golf course at Dhupguri, near Khetri and the course will be inaugurated tomorrow. Set on a sprawling campus of about 100 acres of orchard land, the course will fulfil the dream of common people in taking up the game, said Rintu Borthakur, the mastermind of the organisation in a press conference here today.

Borthakur revealed that they will stress on training the school children mainly in the course and will try to develop their skills by providing all training facilities with minimum charge.

He also mentioned that this visionary project has been undertaken with a view to promote interest in the sport of golf particularly among the young generation of Assam. The club has special arrangement of a training range to teach the sport to the first timers. All equipments for the sport will also be available in the club itself. The club will also try to produce golfers of international standard as the game has been included in Olympics. They are also planning to set up swimming pool, conference hall, night stay in tents, trekking facilities etc. Wazid Hussain Hazarika will be the chief coach.
