By Correspondent

BONGAIGAON, Jan 4 - BJP workers of Bongaigaon district unit felicitated partys newly appointed state president Ranjit Kumar Dass on Tuesday at the district library auditorium here.

We have planned to convert the total population (1 crore 98 lakh) of the State into either our party workers or voters and for which our workers have been told to carry the welfare schemes to rural people for their benefits, Dass said.

He called upon the party workers of the district to help the common people to make them avail the benefits of the newly launched Atal Amrit Yojana scheme.

He also said that his party would contest alone in the coming panchayat polls and local civic bodies to occupy cent percent seats. I often get calls from the party workers of Bongaigaon district. They repent for not having a single legislator of the party in the three seats of the district. We had scope to do better in the district in last Assembly polls, but because of miscalculation, we could not do so. Next time such mistake would not be repeated, he assured.

In the programme, two former AASU leaders Chandan Medhi and Dipak Ray also joined the party along with 13 party workers.

Shankar Das, president of partys Barpeta district unit; Rumi Goswami, state general secretary of the party; and leaders of Bharatiya Janata Yuba Morcha, Orkhi Brahma and Anup Barman were also present on the occasion. Suken Ray, president of Bongaigaon district BJP, chaired the felicitation meeting.
