New bio-fertilizer plant inaugurated in Guwahati

GUWAHATI, Jan 19 - Nova Biotech today launched its organic bio-fertilizer plant in the North-east to cater to the needs of the region�s farmers in an environment-friendly manner.

The organic fertilizer plant was formally inaugurated by social worker Ridhkaran Surana near Lokhra, Guwahati.

The plant is expected to go a long way in enhancing crop productivity and augmenting the farmers� income. The venture has been set up in sync with the Government of India�s Start-up, Stand-up and Make in India initiatives.

The plant will provide all kinds of bio-fertilizers, bio-pesticides and organic nutrients to the farmers.

Addressing the function, Amlan Baruah, Commissioner and Secretary, Agriculture Department, said that Nova Biotech had come forward to join hands with the State governments for encouraging organic farming in the north-eastern states.

�It was a challenge for the local farmers for organic farming, as no local company or organic products were available to the farmers. The initiative will now help increase productivity of organic farming,�said AB Choudhury of Paramparagat Krishi Vikash Yojana of Nova Biotech.

The function was also attended by KK Mittal, Addl Chief Secretary and Agriculture Production Commissioner, Assam.
