GUWAHATI, Feb 19 Governor PB Acharya conferred the oath of office to new member of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Binata Rynjah (retd IAS) at the Raj Bhavan Conference Hall here on Tuesday.

It may be mentioned that Rynjah is the second APSC member in the APSC and four other posts of members are yet to be filled up.

The ceremony was attended by chairman of APSC, Rakesh Paul, other office-bearers of APSC and other departments of the State Government, official sources said.

After the swearing-in ceremony, the Governor urged the APSC office-bearers to work without fear or favour and not to submit to any kind of external pressure at any time and to be impartial in both the conduct of their examinations and in their selection process.

Outlining the benefits of the Jan Dhan Yojana, the Governor said that the officials present should ensure that their lower level employees and all others who could benefit from the Yojana should be encouraged to open bank accounts and avail of the immense benefits under the scheme.

He also appealed to all to lend their hands to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for the benefit of the state and the nation. He said that it was time for us all to change our mindset and contribute our might towards making a better and clean Bharat.

The Governor also laid great emphasis on the scheme of Adoption of Villages and said that all organisations and institutes should adopt at least one village in some remote place far from the campus of the institute or organisation and develop it in a beautiful manner so that both the people of the village and the adopting organisation or institute feel proud.

The Governor added that whenever any organisation or institute adopts any such scheme, he was ready to be present at the venue and extend his cooperation and help in the endeavour.
