IMPHAL, Feb 16 - For the first time, the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BoSEM) will introduce new answer scripts having watermarks, margins and graphs in portrait form replacing the landscape format for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) or matric examination this year, which will begin tomorrow.
We are introducing reforms for smooth conduct of the examination after carrying out sensitisation programmes, said BoSEM Chairman Th Kirankumar.
In previous years, it was observed that the students tend to mix up the answers of different subjects as the answer booklets were not separate. As a result, during evaluation subject-wise segregation of answer sheets becomes a problem, Kirankumar said, while addressing a press conference at the BoSEM office here.
The watermarks of respective subjects are embossed on science and social science answer scripts. We have also opened a control room to facilitate smooth conduct of the examination, he said.
It may be mentioned that a total of 38,664 candidates, including 19,824 female candidates, will be appearing in the HSLC examination this year in 140 examination centres across the State. The examination will end on March 5.
For this, 7000 to 8000 officials, including supervising officers, officers in-charge of examination centres, assistant officers in-charge, supervising invigilators and flying squads will be deployed for the smooth conduct of the examination, said BoSEM Secretary Dr Chithung Mary Thomas.
Dr Chithung also informed that the answer scripts of top 10 rank holders and the highest scorers in each subject will be uploaded in the website of BoSEM. Like last year, answer scripts of science and social science will be evaluated separately besides installing CCTV cameras in the evaluation centres, she added.
Both the Chairman and the Secretary of BoSEM appealed to the students to prepare well and not to indulge in any unfair means during the examination.
