NEUFC move to top spot in ISL

By The Assam Tribune

HYDERABAD, Nov 6: NorthEast United FC jumped to the top spot in the Indian Super League with a 1-0 victory against Hyderabad FC at the GMC Balayogi Stadium here today.

With this victory, the visitors collected eight points from four outings and sit ahead of second-placed Jamshedpur FC who have seven points in their kitty from three matches.

Despite repeated attacks, the Highlanders managed to not concede a goal and instead took the lead late in the 86th minute.

Jose David Leudos strike hit the right hand of Shankar Sampingiraj in the 84th minute only for the referee to point to the penalty spot. Substitute Maximiliano Fabian Barreiro who stepped in to take the spot kick, made no mistake in smashing it into the bottom left corner with the keeper diving the other way.

Hyderabad enjoyed the better chances of the first half but failed to find the desired result. The hosts almost took the lead in the fifth minute but NorthEast United FC custodian Subhasish Roy Chowdhury did well enough to deflect it for a corner off a Marcelinho shot from a tight angle. Agencies
