NEUFC beat Mumbai City, move to second spot

MUMBAI, Feb 13: NorthEast United FC snatched three valuable points in their bid for a spot in the play-offs with an important 2-0 victory over hosts Mumbai City FC here today.

With this victory, the Highlanders moved up to the second spot with 27 points from 16 matches.

NorthEast United FC dominated the proceedings with a two goal cushion till half-time although the hosts tried their best to come back in the game but failed to do so. Even in the second half, NEUFC managed to keep the Mumbai attack at bay.

It didn't take much long for the visitors to take the lead as Rowllin Borges found the back of the net in the fourth minute. Keegan Pereira making his way through the left flank provided Borges with a fine opportunity which the latter made absolutely no mistake in finding the top left corner of the net.

NorthEast United doubled their lead in the 33rd minute with their star forward Bartholomew Ogbeche registering his name in the score sheet this time. A cross from the right flank by Reagan Singh was well converted by the skipper from inside the box. � Agencies
