Netaji�s birth anniversary observed in Hailakandi

HAILAKANDI, Jan 27 � Various organisations observed the 117th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in Hailakandi district recently. A youth convention was organised on the occasion by Sri Sri Ramakrishna Seva Samiti of Hailakandi.

The convention began with the paying of floral tributes to Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhas. Later the meeting held on the occasion at Rabindra Bhawan was presided over by the president of the Seva Samiti, Sudhangshu Ranjan Dhar. A large number of students of the different educational institutions of Hailakandi participated in the convention. It was addressed by Maharaj Jyotirupanandaji of Moscow Ramakrishna Mission, Dr Liliana Malkova of Moscow University, Purnakamanandaji Maharaj of Bangaluru Ramakrishna Mission, Sumansanandaji Maharaj of Cherrapunji Ramakrishna Mission, Baikunthanandaji Maharaj of Silchar Ramakrishna Mission, Nareshanandaji Maharaj of Karimganj Ramakrishna Mission among others. All of them elaborately explained the life and ideal of both Swamiji and Netaji and urged the youth community to follow the path shown by him.

Two socio-cultural organisations of Hailakandi, Dreams and Shagnik also organised day-long various programmes on the occasion of observation of birth anniversary of Netaji as Deshaprem Divas. The president of Dreams, Gautam Gupta inaugurated the programme through garlanding the portrait of Netaji. Various competitions, lectures and cultural programmes were organised by Shagnik.

In Silchar, the main programme was organised by Netaji Janam Divas Udjapan Committee in Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium and it was attended by the former Minister of Tripura and the president of the State branch of Netaji Subhas Foundation, Dr Brojogopal Roy. He demanded the declaration of January 23 as Deshaprem Divas throughout the country like West Bengal and Tripura. He said that many years have passed after the independence of the country but a large section of people are still deprived of getting food everyday. He lamented that the dream of Netaji was trampled by a section of vested interest leaders of the country. Netaji tried to construct a golden India comprising the people of having courage, honesty and sincerity, he said.

The programme was also addressed by the president of the committee, Dr Bibhas Deb, Silchar MP, Kabindra Purkayastha, MLA Sushmita Dev, former MLA and Communist leader Dipak Bhattacharjee, general secretary of the committee, Santosh Kumar Dey among others. Earlier a parade was organised in the stadium which was attended by the students of 21 Schools of Cachar district.

Various programmes were also organised by the Cachar district Committee of Netaji Subhas Foundation in Silchar. The programmes included Prabhat Feri, lighting of 117 lamps, various competitions, lectures and cultural programme.
