NERIWALM taken over by MoWR

GUWAHATI, June 6 � The North Eastern Regional Institute of Water and Land Management (NERIWALM), Dolabari, Tezpur, has been taken over by the Ministry of Water Resources (MoWR), Government of India, with effect from April 4, 2012.

The MoWR entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to this effect, which was inked on June 1, 2012 at the conference hall of the ministry, with the DoNER Ministry and the NEC. Commissioner, Command Area Development and Water Management (CADWM), MoWR, signed it on behalf of the MoWR, while the Joint Secretary, DoNER Ministry, and the Planning Adviser, NEC, were the signatories from the other side. The ceremony was presided over by the Additional Secretary, MoWR.

From NERIWALM, Director, Prof Prashanta Kumar Bordoloi, signed the documents pertaining to the institute and presented a brief about the activities of the NERIWALM with the achievement as well as a vision for the institute.

On October 16, 2006, a high-level meeting held in the Prime Minister�s Office, a decision had been taken for transferring the institutes under the NEC to the respective ministries. This was stated in a press release issued here today.
