Nepali scholar nominated as Sahitya Akademi member

BISWANATH CHARIALI, April 7 - Dr Khemraj Nepal, noted Nepali scholar, author and retired Sanskrit teacher of Chariali Higher Secondary and Multi Purpose School, Biswanath Chariali, has been nominated as a member of the advisory board for the Nepali language in Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.

The executive board of Sahitya Akademi, India�s premier literary organisation promoting literatures in 24 Indian languages recognised by it, approved of the nomination of Dr Nepal�s membership in its meeting. He was informed by the Akademi in this regard on Friday.

Dr Nepal has authored 10 books in Assamese and Nepali, besides editing more than 20 journals in Assamese, Hindi and Nepali languages. A resident of Balipukhuri village here, he is also a member of the dictionary compilation committee formed by the Government of Assam.
