IMPHAL, March 26 � In a medical feat, a nine cm long needle which accidentally got lodged in the lung of a girl was removed successfully through key-hole surgery in a private hospital here on Monday, the hospital sources said.
The operation was conducted by Dr Kh Devendra, Consultant Surgeon Dr P Nishikanta Singh at Shija Hospitals here.
Three half cm incisions were made to remove the needle. An attempt was made earlier to remove the needle through open surgery outside Manipur but was unsuccessful, the sources added. The girl has recovered and was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday.
