NEC grants aid for APOL mill upgradation

RANGIYA, Feb 19 � With a view to upgrade replacement of machinaries of the spinning section of APOL mill situated at Tulsibari near Rangiya, the North Eastern Council (NEC) in exercising its financial power authorised by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Govt of India, vide letter no. 10/5/86 NE-II dated May 8, 1987 to DoNER Ministry, has accorded sanction to the payment of Rs 164.64 lakh to APOL mill for spinning section revamp.

The scheme for upgradation/replacement of machinaries of the spinning unit of the said mill during the year 2011-12 is being implemented by the Co-operative department, Govt of India, the letter stated adding the State Government should release its share contribution immediately on receipt of the share of contribution of NEC in the implementation of the said upgradation scheme of the APOL mill.

It is worth mentioning here that, the APOL mill came to a temporary halt following financial strain few years back, and since then the mill has witnessed many hardships - compounded with many unsolved problems.

The NEC�s move was welcomed by the serving employees of the mill and APOL authority for the overall revamp of the indegineous clothing industry of the State.
