NE to experience heavy rains

GUWAHATI, June 7 � Monsoon is fast approaching the NE region of the country. The India Meteorology Department (IMD) stated in the inference it made this morning, that conditions are favourable for advance of the Southwest Monsoon into some parts of the Northeastern States during the next 48 hours.

Meanwhile, the Borjhar-based Regional Meteorology Centre (RMC) warned in its weather bulletin this evening of the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya Meteorological sub-division during the next 18 hours and at a few places over the same area for the subsequent 18 hours. Heavy rain may occur at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh during the next 42 hours.

The RMC has also said in its forecast for the NE States that rain or thundershowers would occur at many places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next 24 hours.

For Guwahati and its neighbourhood, the RMC said in its forecast that the city would have its sky generally cloudy and rain or thundershowers would occur over the city. The maximum temperature of the city will be around 31� Celsius on Sunday, said the RMC in its bulletin.
