NE monsoon to linger

GUWAHATI, Oct 19 � The withdrawal of monsoon from the NE region this time may take some more days. For, the development will need the decay of the weather system that is presently developing over the North East Bay of Bengal. The system is expected to remain active for the next two to three days.

Disclosing this, Deputy Director General of the Regional Meteorology Centre (RMC) H Pathak said here today that isolated light rain may occur during the next 24 hours starting this noon, over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

This development, he said, is expected to take place under the joint influence of the said weather system and the easterly wind blowing in the NE region at present at the lower tropospheric level.

Though weather will remain mainly dry over the rest of the NE region during the period, rainfall activities are expected to take place over the region during the next two to three days under the influence of the NE Bay weather system, Pathak said.
