NE jr badminton meet under way

ITANAGAR, April 27 - The 2nd edition of the North East Junior Prize-money Badminton Tournament got under way here today with Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra inaugurating the four-day event at Raj Bhavan Badminton Stadium.

Altogether 340 young shuttlers from across the Northeastern States of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura and Sikkim are participating in the tournament, where events like U-9 (singles), U-11, U-13, U-15 and U-17 singles and doubles for both boys and girls will be conducted.

Hosts Arunachal Pradesh fielded the largest contingent of 157 players followed by Assam with 142, according to the organising chairman Bamang Tago.
