NE fest at Delhi from Nov 4

GUWAHATI, Oct 24 - The fourth edition of �North East Festival - Connecting people, celebrating life� is being organised from November 4 to 6 in New Delhi, said the organisers here.

The festival will be preceded by a rock competition amongst the colleges/bands of Delhi at Dilli Haat on October 28 and 29, where 60 teams are participating, with the winning team getting a trip to Dubai, and the second and third teams getting a trip to a domestic destination.

The key attraction of the event will be a musical extravaganza in which icons of the North-east like Papon, Zubeen Garg, rapper Borkung Hrangkhal, DJ Zaeden, rock bands Traffic Jam, Fourth Element, Mo & the Shooting Stars, Reverse Tragedy, and Punjabi folk singers and many more, will perform. Around 20 folk dance forms, the famous Ram Bijoy Ankiya Bhaona of Assam to be presented by Sangeet Natak Akademi, Raax Leela of Manipur, and fashion shows with stylish presentation of NE handloom, will be the other highlights.

An exotic presentation of ethnic Northeast cuisine by around 30 food stalls would be another draw.

�The North-east is famous for its traditional sports. The North East Festival would display the traditional sports of the region. Around 14 sporting events will be on display. Live art, photography exhibition showcasing wildlife, nature photography, an art workshop with 20 young artists of the region, will figure in the event,� Shyamkanu Mahanta, organiser, said.
