NEW DELHI, Jan 24 � Cane and bamboo products from North-east are going to be part of the tableau on handicrafts proposed to be showcased during the Republic Day parade.
The Ministry of Textile is going to participate in the parade for the first-time ever. The Ministry of Defence selected the Indian Handicraft Tableaux, out of the 25 Ministries that applied for display of tableaux during Republic Day parade, announced Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) SS Gupta while briefing newsmen.
The Ministry of Textile is drafting a special scheme for promoting handicrafts of the North-east in the 12th Five Year Plan.
