NDRF units deployed in flood-hit districts

GUWAHATI, Aug 3 - Several search and rescue teams of Ist Battalion NDRF have been deployed in the flood-affected districts of the State in view of the flood situation.

The districts include Barpeta, Sonitpur, Bongaigaon, Silchar and Kamrup Metro. Rescue teams have also been deployed in Tripura, Aizawl and Mizoram.

SK Sastri, Commandant of 1st NDRF, Guwahati, said in statement, �NDRF is always on the standby for the affected people at the time of need. People need to stock emergency medicines, dry food and water for at least one week in low-lying areas till the problem is completely eradicated.�

At present 13 teams of NDRF with 30 deep divers, 40 boats and all other life-saving aid are working in the flood-affected areas.
