GUWAHATI, Feb 12 � The 1st Bn NDRF, Patgaon, Guwahati celebrated its 10th raising day with great enthusiasm and fanfare. In a released addressed to the citizens, it said that the NDRF was committed towards building a safer and disaster resilient India.
It may be noted that NDRF has 10 Bns. Each Bn is provided with 18 self contained specialist search and rescue teams of 45 personnel including engineers, technicians, electrician, dog squad and medics/paramedics. These NDRF Bns are located at 10 different locations in the country based on the vulnerability profile to cut down response time for the deployment.
The 1st BN NDRF has rescued 60928 persons and recovered 163 bodies during the natural disasters in the region so far. �We have also provided important assistance in capacity building in the north-eastern states and have trained 1674 personnel of SDRF in the states of Assam, Meghalaya Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Mizoram,� it said.
