NDFB(S) ultras involved in ambush identified

TEZPUR, Jan 29 � The NDFB(S) cadres involved in the ambush in Thalola-Laodangi area under Dhekiajuli PS on Tuesday morning, in which Additional Superintendent of Police Gulzar Hussain was killed, were identified, police informed.

According to Sonitpur SP Sanjukta Parashar, the three NDFB (Songbijit faction) militants involved in the ambush were identified as B Naihab, Chiju and Bishu and they are still hiding in Batachipur area. She added that a joint operation is going on, along with Army and CRPF Cobra forces in Batachipur and its adjoining areas, to nab the culprits.

Parashar also informed that the condition of three police personnel undergoing treatment at the GMCH is stable and bullets were removed from their bodies successfully.

Meanwhile, Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner Lalit Gogoi said that Sec 144 has been reimposed in Dhekiajuli today from 6 am to 6 pm. The curfew will continue for a few more days, he added.

The Sonitpur district All Assam Minority Students� Union (AAMSU) unit has, meanwhile, staged a protest march at Tezpur town against the NDFB(S) activities in the State and the killing of Hussain.

The protesting AAMSU activists also submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Deputy Commissioner demanding a CBI inquiry into the incident.
