NDFB ultras arrested

GUWAHATI, July 2 � Two suspected members of banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) were arrested by the Assam Police late last night from city�s Gandhibasti area.

Those arrested include Bikunash Narzary (22) alias Birbailang and Edith Khaklari. Both of them, according to police, hails from Udalguri and are trained in explosives.

City Police also said that the duo was involved in planting an improvised explosive device recently in Udalguri. Udalguri SP Debojit Deori also confirmed their involvement behind the incident.

Police also picked up four of their harbourers during the operation launched by the special operation unit in the capital city.

A senior Assam Police official informed that the cadres of the anti-talks faction are trying to sneak into the city to create some subversive activities.

�We are leaving nothing to chance, especially after the outfit�s jailed chief Ranjan Daimary expressed unwillingness in extending the unilateral ceasefire,� police said.

Meanwhile, an Army press statement added that three NDFB cadres were apprehended by joint operation of City Police, 128 Bn CRPF along with Army Intelligence in Gandhibasti area.

According to the statement, the cadres have been identified as Bikunash Narjary, Edit Khaklary (23) and B Basumatary (21).

Mobile handsets and four extra SIM cards were recovered from their possession.
