TEZPUR, Jan 18 The Songbijit faction of the NDFB has strongly condemned the recent killings of innocent people and their cadres in encounters which it said were fake and planned by the police and the security forces with the help of some anti-social elements.

In an email, the spokesman of the anti-talk faction of the rebel group, BR Ferengga, said that over the years, Bodos and the people of the region in general have been watching the drama of encounters enacted by the Assam Police, which has resulted in untimely death of many innocent people of the Bodo community.

The spokesman alleged that two innocent villagers, namely Fwilao Basumatary, son of Guda Basumatary of Gwthwibari Laogaon, Bijni, and Pranab Bsumatary, son of Rabibor Basumatary of Bosagaon Choraibil, Kokrajhar, were killed at Jamdwar Road on January 8 around 6.30 pm by the police with the help of some anti-social people in a fake encounter.

We strongly condemn the incident and warn the Assam Police and the security forces to stay away from such vicious acts, Ferengga said.

He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members of the slain youths.
