NDFB denies involvement in border firing incident

By Correspondent

BONGAIGAON, July 17 The NDFB on Tuesday denied its involvement in the firing incident that took place on July 15 at Lalai along the Indo-Bhutan border under the Amguri PS in Chirang district. The outfit has termed this conspiracy as cheap politics of (their) enemy, India. A press release dated July 16, signed by NDFB spokesman BR Ferengga, said, People of Boroland have been keeping good relations with the people of Bhutan since time immemorial. But India has been keeping relationship with Bhutan only from 1949. So this is the cheap politics of our enemy, India to isolate our good relationship. The involvement of India in that incident is not beyond suspicion.

It may be noted that the outfit has made a fresh appeal to the Bhutan Government to share the whereabouts of NDFB leaders who went missing during the latters operation, All Clear. NDFB still would like to appeal to the Government of Bhutan to tell us the truth about the whereabouts of the missing leaders of the NDFB during the December 15, 2003 Operation All Clear, the release added.

On the other hand, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) officials told media persons that since the NDFB failed to achieve its target in the July 15 shootout incident, it was now denying its involvement. Intercepted communication of the outfit gave the SSB authentic inputs about its (NDFBs) involvement in the firing incident, the SSB officials said.
