GUWAHATI, June 29 The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Assam State Committee on Monday urged the Governor of Assam to take the initiative for creating a proper environment for conducting competitive exams like the civil services.
In a memorandum to the Governor, the party expressed its dissatisfaction over the reported anomalies in the APSC results and said that the Chief Minister of Assam instead of taking appropriate action to resolve the issue has remained silent to protect the interest of the APSC chairman as well as other leaders of the ruling party.
It seems that the government is involved indirectly with malpractice adopted by this autonomous body. We need a proper inquiry by the CBI so that in future the right environment is created to conduct this examination in a free and fair manner, the memorandum insisted.
Pointing out to the increase in anti-social activities in the capital city, the party said that the home ministry should be entrusted to a separate minister of Cabinet rank.
The party further added that the footpaths in the city should be cleared for the convenience of the pedestrians.
The party also demanded completion of the NRC update within the stipulated time as directed by the Supreme Court.
