NCHACEU calls off non-cooperation agitation

HAFLONG, Oct 27 - Following an assurance from the newly elected Chief Executive Member of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) Niranjan Hojai, the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council Employees� Union (NCHACEU) called off their indefinite non-cooperation agitation temporarily after 25 days on Monday.

The indefinite non-cooperation agitation started on October 1 demanding their eight months pending salary and also enhancement of DA to 113%.

Talking to the media, Prasanna Hasnu, president of NCHACEU said the newly- elected CEM, Niranjan Hojai had appealed to the employees� union to restore the functioning of the council from Monday while assuring that their demands would be resolved soon after the formation of the executive body in the NCHAC.

He further said, �We have called off our agitation temporarily but if the new CEM fails in his endeavour, as he has assured, then we would organise a general meeting again and the future course of action will be decided in the meeting.�

They also hailed the appointment of the new CEM Niranjan Hojai and his act of meeting the employees and discussing their problems.
