NC Hills Autonomous Council foundation day

HAFLONG, April 29 � The 64th foundation day of NC Hills Autonomous Council was celebrated at the District Library auditorium here today.

Assam Education Minister Sarat Barkotoky attended the function as chief guest. At the outset, a felicitation programme and a welcome song was held followed by a short speech by NCHAC chairman and chairman central celebration committee Ngamrothang Hmar.

NCHAC Chief Executive Member Debojeet Thaosen, in his speech urged the people of Dima Hasao to respect the Autonomous Council and to extend full co-operation. He also thanked Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and his government for their support to solve the problems of NC Hills Autonomous Council including salary problems of normal sector.

A souvenir and a news magazine Reflection was released on the occasion. Pranab Langthasa was felicitated with a certificate and Rs one lakh for his achievement as silver medalist in the Mister Universe contest at Taranto in Italy in 2014. Baoringdao Bodo, was felicitated with a certificate and Rs 50,000/- in cash who is the under 14 sub-junior national football team captain and Rewati Chetri who was among the 10 finalists and adjudged Miss Popular and Miss Multi-Media Award at fbb Miss India 2015 was awarded a certificate and Rs 50,000/- in cash.

Education Minister Sarat Borkotoky, in his speech dwelt upon the motives of Assam Government to develop the only hill district of Assam by transferring immense power and functions to the Autonomous Council for developing the district.

He also talked about the plans to establish a university at Haflong and the regularisation of the contractual teachers of Haflong Government College.

Later, in the evening a cultural programme was held.
