Navarang emerge winners

GUWAHATI, Feb 12 � With a thumping 60-run victory against Gauhati Town Club, Navarang Club clinched the title in the NEEDS organised 22nd Uma Charan Bania Memorial T20 D/N Cricket Tournament.

In the final played at the Judges� Field here last evening, batting first Navarang piled up a massive 194 for six. Niraj Tiwary (40 off 20 balls), Pritam Debnath (38 off 37 balls) and Manoj Malo (34 off 26 balls) were the leading scorers for the Navarang team.

The GTC batsmen failed to the chase the big total and were all out for 134. Govinda Rajbongshi and Nirendra Dekaraja were GTC�s notable contributors with 48 and 38 respectively.

Nipon Patowary of Navarang was declared as man-of-the-match while his team mate Pritom Debnath received the man-of-the-series award. Sekhar Jyoti Barman (Navarang), Ram Kripal Gupta (GTC), Hrishikesh Tamuly (City CC) were selected as best bowler, best wicketkeeper and best batsman of the tournament respectively.

Purnima Bania, wife of Umacharan Bania, Rajib Prakash Baruah, ADC, Kalyan Borthakur, organiser, Satyen Deka, senior advocate were present as guests in the prize distribution function. NEEDS secretary Manoj Choudhury offered vote of thanks.
