Navajyoti win Guwahati Challenge Trophy

GUWAHATI, Feb 21 � Navajyoti Club emerged champions in the Servo 21st Guwahati Challenge Trophy All Assam Prize Money Cricket Tournament and lifted the Balabhadra Oja and Bhabendra Ch Pathak Memorial Trophy.

In the final of the championship played at the Judges� Field here today, Navajyoti Club earned a facile four-wicket victory against Bud Cricket Club.

In reply to Bud�s 176 for nine in the stipulated 40 overs, Navajyoti scored 178 for six in 37.2 overs. The unbroken seventh wicket partnership between Bikash Chetri and Nipon Deka added 64 runs off 46 balls which virtually took Navajyori to the winning target.

Nipon Deka of Navajyoti was adjudged man-of-the-match for his match winning 41. His team mate Abhijit Singha Roy received the man-of-the-tournament award. Rajib Kalita (Navarang), Sarupam Purkayastha (Bud), Kaushik Oja (Navarang) and Kaushik Giri (Bud) were the recipients of best batsman, best bowler, best wicket keeper and best fielder awards.

The championship was organised by the River Rine Club.
