Navajyoti prevail over Ganga SC

By Sports reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 12 - An added time goal by Ramsangliana fetched three points for Navajyoti Club from Ganga Sports Club with a 2-1 victory in todays match of the RG Baruah Super Division Football League.

It was basically a dull match at the Nehru Stadium here as no team was seen to put all out effort in most of the time. The goalless first session in particular hardly witnessed any positive move from either sides.

However, the momentum enhanced to a satisfactory height in the later part of the match. The Navajyoti boys in particular made some eye-catching efforts through Dhabesh Daimary, Charles Egware and Gorachand Marandi. Nigerian Charles was quite agile at the up front and gave a tough time to the Ganga defenders using his speed and power.

For Ganga, Surojit Duloi, Olatunde Timothy, PC Vanlalhamangizuala and Pynshailen Surong worked hard in a bid to dominate at the Navajyoti striking zone.

Charles set the ball for Dhabesh who beat the Ganga custodian Goutam Naskar with a mild heading in the 54th minute (1-1).

In the 78th minute Ganga drew parity through skipper Timothy who sent the ball into the empty goal as the Navajyoti goalkeeper Mulya Rabha came up to the top of the box after his defenders were beaten (1-1).

Navajyoti earned a set piece just before the final hooter and the match was allready in its added time (90+). Their captain Vanlalzuidika took a powerful shot from 30 yards and the Ganga keeper fumbled in gathering the ball. Opportunist Ramsangliana pushed the ball in to the goal from inside the crowded box (2-1).

With todays victory, Navajyoti gathered 14 points from six matches and are at the top of the point table.
