GUWAHATI, Sept 3 - Navajyoti Club edged out Gauhati Town Club (GTC) by a solitary goal in today�s match of the RG Baruah GSA Super Division Football League.
On a slushy outfield at the Nehru Stadium here, after a dry first session striker Clever G Momin struck the match winning goal in the 57th minute.
Debash Daimary initiated a move down the right flank and sent a measured pass to Laldhuwma who unleashed a shot from top of the box. But the ball rebounded off the cross piece and making a good follow Clever gently placed the ball in the goal.
The Navajyoti boys distinctly dominated the show and as far ball possession is concerned Navajyoti team was far ahead of GTC. Nigerian Timothy Onyenka played the role of a game maker and set several balls for his fellow frontliners.
In the 32nd minute the Navajyoti medio Laldhuwma squandered the easiest opportunity of the day as he failed to send the ball into an open net. Their other midfielder Gorachand Marandi also played a vital role in initiating moves from the middle third of the pitch. For Town Club, Olaniran Joseph tried all out in tearing the Navajyoti defence but he did not get adequate support from his team mates.
Kamrupa rally to beat Sporting Union: Sporting Union squandered a 2-0 advantage and finally went down 2-3 to Kamrupa Football Club in the Jibeswar Goswami A Division Football League. Bimal Rabha opened the account in the 44th minute and the same striker netted the second goal for Sporting in the 52nd minute.
But the Kamrupa boys turned the table on Sporting scoring through Jagdish Boro (59th minute), Ajay Rabha (76th minute) and Kubal Rabha (82nd minute).
