Navajyoti, FCI gain crucial points

GUWAHATI, Sept 2 � Navajyoti Club and FCI Sports Club gained crucial points in the RG Baruah Super Division Football League.

In their last matches of the preliminary round, Navajyoti edged past Dynamo Club and FCI earned a deserving 2-0 victory against Ganga Sports Club at the Nehru Stadium here today.

Nigerian Nwokwu Michael Okwudici scored the match winning goal for Navajyoti from a set piece in the 83rd minute.

For FCI, Bidur Chetry struck in the 58th minute while Sourab Chutia enhanced the margin in the 90th minute. John Songate of FCI and Ganga skipper Joseph Doni were given marching order in the 87th minute.

After conclusion of the preliminary round ASEB SC topped the table with 17 points while Dynamo are placed at the bottom with four points.

On September 5 FCI will play against Dynamo while Navajyoti will take on Sunrise in the relegation group.
