Nat�l seminar on romanticism in Bodo poetry

MUSHALPUR, Oct 2 - Under the aegis of the Sahitya Akademi, Kolkata, Bodo Department Teachers� Association and Bodo Department of the Gyanpeeth Degree College, a national seminar on �Romanticism in Bodo Poetry� was held at Gyanpeeth Degree College, Nikashi in Baksa district on September 26 and 27 in keeping with the centenary celebration of Bodo romantic poet Ishan Chandra Mwshahary.

Dr Adaram Basumatary, president of the Bodo Department Teachers� Association chaired the opening session which began with the lighting of the lamp by former MCLA, Moon Singh Brahma, welcome speech by Dr Gunajit Pathak, principal of Gyanpeeth Degree College and inauguration of the session by Dayananda Bhandary, president of the GB of Gyanpeeth Degree College.

The second day�s programme began with spot poems, essay and short story writing. Dr Adaram Basumatary hoisted the flag while the smriti tarpan programme was led by Dr Rajendra Kumar Basumatary. Gautam Paul, Incharge of the regional office of the Sahitya Akademi, Kolkata, litterateur Brajendra Kumar Brahma, educationist Dr Anil Kumar Boro, Jonil Kumar Brahma, Dr Bhupen Narzary among others attended the session. The students who obtained the highest marks in Bodo major in the BA final examination this year were felicitated on the occasion.
