Nat�l science seminar at RSC today

GUWAHATI, Nov 5 - Regional Science Centre (RSC) Guwahati is organising the National Science Seminar 2019 for students on the topic �Periodic Table of Chemical Elements: Impact on Human Welfare� at its Khanapara campus here tomorrow. Basudev Mandal, Project Coordinator of RSC Guwahati said the event is being organised to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the discovery of Periodic Table of Chemical Elements.

The National Council of Science Museums organises the National Science Seminar annually for students from Class VIII to Class X across the country. It is for the first time that such a seminar is being organised in the North East. RSC is a constituent unit of the Council.

The event will be inaugurated by Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi at 10.30 am tomorrow. Dr NC Talukdar, Director of Institute of Advanced Study in Science & Technology, Guwahati, will be the guest of honour.

�On this occasion, we are bringing out a special souvenir on National Science Seminar for distribution among all the participants and other stakeholders. It will be opened by the Governor. The souvenir contains scholarly articles contributed by subject experts and also messages from eminent luminaries. This publication reaches out to a very large number of school students and will immensely benefit them and society at large,� Mandal said.

At the valedictory function Dr Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of the USTM, will be the chief guest and give away the prizes to the winners of the seminar in the presence of AD Choudhury, Director General of National Council of Science Museums, Kolkata.
