Nat�l Law University: Permanent campus inauguration tomorrow

GUWAHATI, March 23 - The permanent campus of the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, will be ceremonially inaugurated at Amingaon, Kamrup, on March 25.

The ceremony will be attended by several dignitaries including Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and judges of the Supreme Court Justice J Chelameswar, Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre and Justice Amitava Roy, along with the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court and other judges, stated an official press release today.

The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam has been established by the State Government by way of enactment of the National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009. The Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court is the Chancellor of the University.

The University started regular classes in September, 2011 from the temporary campus at the Ulubari North East Judicial Officers� Training Institute building here. The university offers the five-year integrated BA LLB (Honours) course, one-year LLM degree programme and PhD degree programme. The first batch of the BA LLB (Honours) course successfully completed their graduation in 2016.

The permanent campus located at Amingaon in Kamrup district is spread over an area of approximately 150 bighas. The campus mainly comprises the administrative building, the academic building and also hostel for students with state-of-the-art facilities.

Residential facilities for teaching and non-teaching staff of the university will also be a part of the permanent campus during the construction in the next phase, added the press release.
