National summit on sustainable development held

GUWAHATI, May 4 - Kaziranga University, in association with CSIR-NISTADS, a known policy research institute of India, organised a three-day national summit on the theme, �Northeast: Sustainable and Inclusive Development�. This was stated in a press release.

The summit highlighted North East as a critical hotspot for convergence of sustainable development leading to overall holistic growth and progress of the region. During the course of the three-day summit, a platform was provided to experts to discuss, deliberate and arrive at a policy roadmap for sustainable and inclusive development of North East.

The inaugural session of the summit was held on April 26 where Minister of Education, Government of Manipur, T Radheshyam Singh attended as the chief guest and the former Special Secretary (Education), Prof Ashok Chandra delivered the keynote address. The session saw other dignitaries such as Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, MP, Dr Prashant Goswami, Vice-Chancellor, Utkal University, Dr SM Patnaik, Chief Managing Director, HHMM Group of Companies, Habib Mohammad Chaudhary, Pro Chancellor, Kaziranga University, Basant Khetan, Vice-Chancellor, Kaziranga University, Dr PK Mishra along with other delegates from across the country.

Distinguished speakers from different sectors of premier organisations from across the country attended the summit and presented their research papers and findings which will aid in forming holistic policies for the development and sustainability of the region. Some of the eminent speakers included Dr Tabassum Jamal, Chief Scientist, NISTADS, Dr Uddhab Kumar Bharali, Innovator, Dr Ashmita Chitnis, Director, Symbiosis Institute of International Business, Anal Jain, CEO, Bodhi Technologies, Dr Ravikumar Chitnis, Principal, MIT School of Management, Rupam Goswami, Chairman, Chamber of Commerce, Assam and Dr N Gopalkrishnan, Director, CSIR-CBRI, Roorkee. Other luminaries included Prof Charulata Mahanta, Dean SoE, Tezpur University, Dr S Venugopal, Director, NIT Nagaland, Dr AK Barooah, Director, Tea Research Association, Toklai Tea Research Institute and Vivek Pandit, Head, Retail Business IL & FS Skill.
