National Integration Week observed in Manipur

IMPHAL, Nov 19 - The Quami Ekta Week (National Integration Week) was observed in Manipur today. Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh and Works Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh attended a function held on the occasion at the Old Secretariat here.

In his speech, Joykumar Singh called upon the people of the State to nurture a love for the motherland and work towards integration of the country.

The Deputy Chief Minister remembered former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi for her supreme sacrifice for the cause of unity of the country. He said unity and integration of the people would make the country stronger. Works Minister Biswajit Singh stated that remembering Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary alone is not enough. �We should imbibe her principles and ideals for a unified nation,� he stressed.

One of the biggest achievements of the Manipur Government has been the bridging of gap between the hills and valley districts under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, the Works Minister said.
