NALBARI, Nov 25 - A 12-day book fair got under way at the Sahityaratna Harinarayan Dutta Baruah Kshetra near the railway track here from November 24.
The book fair was formally inaugurated by Professor of Gauhati University Dr Bibhas Choudhury at a function held at around 5 pm on Saturday evening. In his inaugural speech, Dr Choudhury observed that society can be changed and developed through the knowledge acquired from the study of books. He called upon the new generation to develop the book reading habit right from their childhood. Dr Choudhury also urged the visitors to the Nalbari Raas festival to purchase books.
