Nalbari AJYCP organises mass protest against CAA

NALBARI, Dec 15 - The Nalbari district unit of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) organised a mass sit-in demonstration at the Thana Chowk here on Saturday to register protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.

Hundreds of protesters from various organisations, including AASU, Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad, Nalbari Zilla Sahitya Sabha, Nalbari Lawyers� Association, Nalbari District Journalists� Union, AAMSU, students from various local colleges took part in the demonstration.

The protesters raised slogans against the BJP governments in the state and centre,Prime Minister Narendra Modi,Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, among others.

A protest meeting was also held on the occasion where the leaders opined that the Assamese people will continue its fight against the controversial Act.

Protest registered: In the meantime, the Nalbari Chitra Silpi Samaj with colours, brush and palette registered their collective protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 at the premises of Nalbari Natya Mandir yesterday.

Senior artists of the district painted a good numbers of portraits against the controversial Act.The artists who took part in the protest were Abinash Mazumdar, Ajit Mahanta, Anup Dutta, Binoy Mazumdar, Dhrupraj Krishnatra, Prabal Sarma, Tapas Sarma,Tarali Sarma, Priyam Aditya, Souravjyoti Bhattacharya and Gagan Bezbaruah.

The unique protest by the Nalbari artists drew the attention of the local people.
