Nalbari admins steps for peaceful Durga Puja

By CORRESPONDENT

NALBARI, Sept 19 The Nalbari district administration has taken some special measures for the celebration of the ensuing Durga Puja in a peaceful manner. The Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari, Dr Om Prakash invited the puja celebration committees recently to discuss various issues in this regard.

The DC directed the puja committees not to collect donations from commercial and private vehicles in the name of puja. He also requested the puja committees to install CCTVs and facilitate adequate lighting at the puja mandaps. The puja committees must issue identity cards to volunteers and roadside vendors during the puja.

The DC added that the puja committees must take permission from the ASEB before installing lights. Bicycles, two- and four-wheelers should be parked 100 metres away from the puja mandaps. As the ban on plastic and polythene bags is in force in the district, the puja committees have been directed to ensure that the ban is not violated.

The puja committees have been directed not to allow space to vendors on the puja premises to avoid traffic jams. It may be mentioned here that more than 150 community Durga Puja will be held in the district.
