Nalbari AASU intensifies stir

NALBARI, Dec 17 - The All Assam Students� Unit (AASU) , Nalbari district unit has intensified its protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act in the entire district by organising street corner meetings and rallies. The Paschim Barbhag Anchalik unit of AASU on Monday organised a protest meeting at Bihagi Kobi Raghunath Choudhury Children�s Park at Karia of the district. The meeting was presided over by Harichandra Bezbaruah, president of Karia Yubak Sangha. The protest meeting was addressed, among others, by Akshay Deka, general secretary of Nalbari district AASU, Phanidhar Deka, former Principal of Barbhag College, Dr Dinamani Bhagawati, former Head, Geography department of Nalbari College, Kulesh Deka, president of Barbhag Anchalik Karmachari Parishad, social worker Abdur Rahman.They all opposed the illegal Act in the State as it will encourage the Hindu Bangladeshis to enter the State.

Earlier, Phanidhar Baruah, assistant secretary of Nalbari district AASU while explaining the purpose of the meet called upon the people to unitedly oppose the Act for the better future of the people.

AJYCP hunger strike: The 36-hour hunger strike launched by the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), Nalbari district unit at Nalbari Natya Mandir premises against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) ended this morning. A total of 15 activists staged the hunger strike who were supported by hundreds AJYCP activists and the representatives of various organisations of the district. The protesters displayed placards opposing the controversial Act.
