Naharlagun-New Delhi train blocked at Udalguri

UDALGURI, Feb 20 � The 22411 Down Naharlagun-New Delhi Express train which was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today at Naharlagun was blocked here at Udalguri Railway Station today by the Udalguri district committees of All Assam Students� Union (AASU), ABSU, AJYCP, AAGSU, AASAA, AKRSU, Udalguri Chamber of Commerce and Udalguri Press Club demanding the stoppage of train at Udalguri Railway Station.

Later, the eight organisations of the district submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister and the Railway Minister through the deputy commissioner of Udalguri district in which they put forward eleven point charters of demand showing reasons for the stoppage of the express train at Udalguri Railway Station. The leaders of the organisations later told the media persons present on the occasion that they would plan to block the train in future if the railway authority did not consider the public demand.

The copies of the memorandum which were also submitted to Ramen Deka, MP of Mangaldoi HPC, the general manager of NF Railway, Maligaon and the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Rangiya division stated that the railway authority should honour the public sentiment.

Meanwhile, talking to this correspondent, Ramen Deka, MP of Mangaldoi HPC who accompanied the Prime Minister and the Railway Minister from New Delhi to Naharlagun assured that the train would have a stoppage at Udalguri Railway Station very soon.
