Nagas encroaching Assam land in Doyalpur

GOLAGHAT, March 20 � In the �C� sector of the Assam-Nagaland border the Naga people have been encroaching the lands of the Assamese people living in Doyalpur area and the Nagas had constructed their dwelling houses which belong to the Assamese farmers.

It was alleged that two Nagas namely Dreuttang Lutha and Sunthom Lutha had forcibly occupied the lands belonged to Subin Khaglari and Puspa Chetry of Doyalpur village on March 14.

The Nagas numbering 20 had come to Doyalpur and began to construct houses forcibly ignoring the oppositon of the Assamese farmers. This incident has created great sensation in the locality.

After getting the information Pradip Swargiari, ex-general secretary and Dileswar Brahma, president of Assam Bodo Students� Union visited the spot and tried to prevent the Nagas from proceeding with the construction works. But the latter did not pay any heed to their demands.

The ABSU leaders immediately informed the matter to the SDO (Civil), Dhansiri border magistrate and CRPF. The border magistrate Bipul Das, the CRPF commander of �C� sector, forest officer immediately stopped the Nagas from construction works.

The non-Naga people living in the border has asked the State Government and the district administration to take stern action and to provide security to their lives and property.
