Nagaon school observes 148th foundation day

NAGAON, Dec 7 � The 148th foundation day of Nowgong Govt Boys� HS School was celebrated recently with a daylong programme. The programme started with hoisting of the flag by the principal Dipika Laskar. This was followed by smriti tarpan initiated by retired principal and president of school management committee Bimal Bora.

Former incharge principal Kunja Mohan Bhuyan formally inaugurated the wall magazine of the school. Kamaleswar Bora, former VC of Dibrugarh University was the oldest student present in ex-student, teachers� meet arranged on the occasion. He passed matriculation in 1944 from this school. Recalling his school days he narrated the educational atmosphere of Nagaon during that period. Other ex-students Purna Baruah, writer Cheniram Bora, Tarini Muhan Sharma and others recalled their school days.

Dr Bhabajyoti Bora inaugurated the function and former student and teacher Abdul Jabbar conducted the function. Another ex-student, Minister Rockybul Hussain observed that the over all educational atmosphere of the state had changed after the formation of the present government.

Principal Laskar formally welcomed the guests. Retired 4th grade employee of the school Durav Kakati was also felicitated on the occasion.

Retired Principal Jibeswar Deva Goswami formally declared opened the open session. Some ex-students Kamaleswar Bora, former Principal Alimuz Zaman, Advocate Alook Goswami, too former brilliant students Shantanu Kumar Saikia and Bhaswata Saikia and six students of the school who got distinction also were felicitated at the session.
