Nagaon overall champs in State Games

NAGAON, Jan 9 � Nagaon came out on top with a tally of 62 gold, 24 silver and 34 bronze medals in the State Games which concluded here today. Guwahati came second with 39 gold, 49 silver and 34 bronze medals while Kokrajhar with 14 gold, 11 silver and 15 bronze medals were third.

In today�s other notable results, Guwahati won both the basketball men�s and women�s title today in the State Games here while Nagaon bagged both the runners-up title. In kabaddi, the Sivasagar men�s team were the champions and Rangiya the runners-up. In the women�s section, Dibrugarh were the champions while Tezpur came second.

In the closing ceremony, vice-president of Assam Olympic Association Bhubaneswar Kalita, who was the chief guest, released the official souvenir of the Games. State Forest Minister and organising committee chairman Rockybul Hussain addressed the gathering. The ceremony also witnessed a colourful cultural function and spectacular fireworks display.
