Nagaon admn taking steps for smooth polls

NAGAON, Aug 7 - Elections to the Tiwa Autonomous Council will be held on August 19 next. The 44-member council has 10 seats from Nagaon district. The Nagaon district administration is taking all steps to conduct the poll process smoothly.

A meeting of the Nagaon district administration was held here, which was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Nagaon district, Monalisa Goswami. It was revealed in the meeting that there will be 95 polling stations for the 10 seats, where 69,442 persons will be able to exercise their franchise. Ten magistrates and 20 sector officers have been entrusted to conduct the election in the Nagaon district part of the Tiwa Autonomous Council.

Besides Government officers, representatives of various political parties were also present in the meeting. Attending the meeting, Nagaon SP, Arabinda Kalita highlighted the code of conduct to be followed by the candidates in the election including the expenditure limit. ADC, Brojen Ch Das conducted the function.
