Nagaland village gets eco-tourism project

DIMAPUR, May 21 � Jotsoma village under Kohima district has emerged a tourist destination with the inauguration of a Nature Conservation and Eco-Tourism Project at Puliebadze Chahe Ki, a rest house at the foothill of Mount Puliebadze.

The inauguration programme was attended by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. He expressed his happiness that the village has been actively preserving and conserving nature and striving to keep it from damage.

The Chief Minister stated that the thick natural vegetation of Japf� mountain range could provide water for the capital town Kohima for which he appreciated the people of the Southern Angami and the Western Angami ranges as they have preserved and conserved the flora and fauna. He also advised that community based forests should be set up.

The Chief Minister assured the village a sanction of Rs 20 lakh towards development of the eco-tourism project, besides the immediate contribution of Rs 2 lakh.
