DIMAPUR, Dec 11 Nagaland Governor Nikhil Kumar laid the foundation stone of Nagalands first College of Nursing at Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) here today.
The construction of the Nursing college which has already commenced is expected to be completed by September 2012.
This Nursing college is a tribute to the State of Nagaland and its girls and women who set before themselves this noble goal and in achieving the goal, the Governor said during the inaugural function.
Maintaining that nurses hailing from the North East and Kerala are more noble in their profession for which they are being held in high esteem all over the country, he called upon all concerned to carry forward this wonderful legacy.
The Governor also said he finds the nurses in Nagaland dedicated, committed and very much aware of what is expected of them, qualities which cannot be found in nurses in many parts of the country.
Hoping that this educational institution will provide the much needed facilities for training of nurses and in due course of time bring out nurses with a certain commitment to public service, Kumar espoused confidence that CIHSR, which is a part of the internationally reputed Christian Medical College, Vellore, will carry the torch forward.
The challenge before you is to achieve a certain standard of excellence, he stated while exuding hope that CIHSR and the Nursing college become a shining light in the field of medical health care, treatment and nursing in the entire North East.
Minister for Health & Family Welfare Kuzholuzo Nienu in his address expressed disappointment with the indifferent attitude exhibited by the Government of India in providing proper health care to the State.
