Nagaland Govt warns proxy teachers to quit

By The Assam Tribune

DIMAPUR, June 9 - To root out the evil of proxy teachers, Nagaland Minister of School Education and SCERT Yitachu has directed all those who are deploying substitute teachers against their posts to resign by June 30 or be dismissed from service and face legal action.

It is not right to occupy two or three posts depriving thousands of unemployed youths, Yitachu said while speaking at the three-day Training-cum-conference for physical education teachers on newly printed handbook organised by Directorate of School Education in Kohima.

Stating that the department had been detecting and taking corrective measures against such cases, he, however, said it is time to crack the whip by setting a deadline and to let law take its own course.

Lamenting that the unresolved issue of cadre and structure review has affected the functioning of the department, Yitachu appealed to all stakeholders and associations to allow the department to go ahead with what it thinks was best for the department.

He also pointed out that there are some cases in the department where some individuals, who were not even employed, had been drawing pension. Correspondent
