Nagaland Govt on illegal immigration issue

By NEWMAI NEWS

DIMAPUR, Aug 26 - Government of Nagaland is working seriously on the issue of illegal immigration, according to the Chief Ministers Office. It also said that a joint consultative meeting of all stakeholders will be convened soon.

This was revealed as a delegation comprising Naga Students Federation (NSF) and its federating units including the All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister on Friday.

According to the CMO, the delegation of NSF and ANCSU impressed upon the Advisor to CM about the existing exigency regarding stringent implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) including the need to bring Dimapur under the purview of ILP to check illegal immigration into the State.

The delegation appealed to the Government of Nagaland to take up all necessary measures in this regard particularly by streamlining the ILP issuing mechanisms and sensitisation of the district administrations in the State.

Welcoming the delegation, the Advisor to the Chief Minister appreciated the concern and efforts of the student bodies in addressing the problem, the CMO said.

The Advisor assured that the State Government is working with all seriousness on the matter and that the Chief Minister will call for a joint consultative meeting with all stakeholders in the near future, Chief Ministers Office added.
